Dear colleagues:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was late in joining the Virtual Conference. We are now up and operating, and I look forward to many contributions and lots of good discussion.
I am an agricultural economist specializing in livestock issues in developing countries, and will probably exhibit that bias in my comments, but not necessarily in what I accept for the forum, as I strongly believe that all viewpoints should be aired in a scholarly venue.
I am comfortable reading contributions in English, French, or Spanish, but will refer German and other language contributions (including technical animal science contributions!) to my co-moderator, Dr. Joern Hamann of the School of Veterinary Medicine, Hanover.
