Controlling associations for by-products - systematic improvement of marketing -
The quantity of by-products, which are fed to pigs, has largely increased in the last few years. Due to this fact, four controlling associations for by-products have been established by the Landwirtschaftskammer Westfalen-Lippe. The starting point for this project is the fact that many farmers are hesitating to feed by-products to pigs, because they do not know the feeding value and the feeding strategies, which have to be applied. The procedure of controlling is as follows: in the companies, which produce the mixtures of by-products (for example rests of meal, pizza, ice cream) samples are taken, which are analysed for dry matter, lysine, methionine, cystine, threonine, metabolizable energy (MJ ME), minerals (Ca, P, Na) and acidity. The costs of the analyses are paid by the company. The farmers get every month information on the current analysis datas. This system, which is controlled by the Landwirtschaftskammer Westfalen-Lippe as neutral institution, anables a continuous increase of by-product feeding to pigs.
Zusammenfassung und Schlussfolgerung
Zusammenfassend ist festzustellen, dass Kontrollinggemeinschaften von Nebenprodukten ein von der Praxis sehr gut angenommenes System darstellen, um die Vermarktungschancen von Nebenprodukten zu verbessern. Insbesondere die neutral festgestellten Informationen über die Inhaltsstoffe der Nebenprodukte und die regelmäßige Verschickung von Infobriefen sorgen für eine breite Transparenz und eine positive Einstellung der Landwirte gegenüber Nebenprodukten. Die Möglichkeit, Futterrationen für Mastschweine bedarfsgerecht und kostengünstig zusammenzustellen, wird deutlich verbessert. Die Veredelung von Nebenprodukten ist eine ökologisch und ökonomisch sehr elegante Art des Recyclings. Bei in Zukunft weiter steigenden Mengen von Nebenprodukten kommt daher der Vermarktung eine noch größere Bedeutung zu. In einer Weiterentwicklung dieses Kontrollingsystems wäre es denkbar, den Landwirten regelmäßig Infobriefe zuzusenden, in denen mehrere Anbieter von Nebenprodukten mit den neuesten Analysewerten und Produktpreisen in einem aktuellen Vergleich gegenübergestellt werden.
